Manhattan, Kansas was buzzing with entrepreneurial spirit as Women in Entrepreneurship hosted their second annual End of Year Celebration and Awards. The event, held at the Arrow Cocktail Lounge and presented by Addair Law, saw women business owners and supporters from the Greater Manhattan area come together for an evening of networking and recognition.
Sarah Siders, Executive Director of Spark Manhattan, took attendees on a journey through the history of the Women in Entrepreneurship community. From humble beginnings as a small Facebook group in 2020, the community has grown to host monthly events with over 225 attendees in 2023, and boasts nearly 450 women entrepreneurs in its online community.
The night was capped off with awards recognizing the achievements of women entrepreneurs in four categories. Kyra Vanderbilt was named Emerging Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, while Mentoria Green took home the Inspiring Woman of the Year award. Innovating Woman Entrepreneur of the Year went to Nikita Razo, and Natalie Barlett was honored as Woman Entrepreneur Advocate of the Year.
A special nod was given to Yendi Gonzalez, who received the Groundbreaking Leadership Award for her service to the Hispanic community. Gonzalez, a key leader in the newly formed Latino Business Association and recent graduate of Flint Hills Business Launch, has been instrumental in promoting, supporting, and resourcing women entrepreneurs in her community.
The event also recognized the generosity and commitment of Women in Entrepreneurship Program sponsors, Therapie and Kansas Gas Service.
