$25M Grant Initiative to Support Workforce Reentry for Incarcerated Individuals

Last updated: February 13, 2025

The U.S. Department of Labor has announced $25 million in available grants to enhance employment services for incarcerated individuals, both before and after their release.

This initiative, known as the Pathway Home grant program, aims to address gaps in reentry services to improve employment outcomes and reduce recidivism.

Administered by the Employment and Training Administration, the funding will support approximately 12 projects across the country.

These programs will focus on providing job search strategies, legal assistance, counseling, and occupational training before release.

Participants will also gain access to industry-recognized credentials and registered apprenticeships, helping them transition into skills-based employment.

The initiative, authorized by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, emphasizes creating strong partnerships between grantees and employers.

By integrating workforce development efforts with supportive services, the program equips participants with the tools needed to reenter society and the business community confidently.

This funding marks a step forward in bridging the transition from incarceration to meaningful employment, promoting stability and reducing barriers that often hinder successful reentry.
