Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems (SyracuseCoE) has given a financial boost to four New York-based companies. The Innovation Fund, a program run by SyracuseCoE, has awarded grants to these companies, helping them break down barriers to commercializing their groundbreaking products and technologies.
The Innovation Fund, open to SyracuseCoE Partner Program members, provides up to $10,000 to companies pushing the envelope in indoor environmental quality, clean and renewable energy, and water resources. The fund is fueled by contributions from SyracuseCoE Partner Program member companies.
Jianshun “Jensen” Zhang, SyracuseCoE executive director, hailed the winning projects as a “win-win for Central New York.” He added, “These four companies will advance technical innovations in business and create economic opportunities that address pressing environmental and energy efficiency challenges, thanks to the support of the SyracuseCoE Innovation Fund and its Partner Program community.”
The selection process involved each applicant pitching their project proposal to a review panel. The panel, comprising industry experts, evaluated each project based on sound engineering principles, innovation potential, feasibility, and expected economic outcomes.
Since its inception, the SyracuseCoE Innovation Fund has supported over 60 projects, with nearly $640,000 in award funding.
